REINVENTING YOURSELF

Reinventing yourself is being the author of your own book.  Capturing the attention of your audience, while keeping them on edge and wanting more.  One must close a chapter to begin a new one.  We all have the tendency to dwell on negativity in our past; yet, harping on such things can only hold us back and keep us from pushing forward.  We must search within and ask, "Why hold on to old BAGGAGE; and what will we benefit from not letting go of it?

If you cannot seem to find a legitimate answer, that means it is time to make a change.

I.  What would you consider as a "New You?"

Take a moment and find a place where it's peaceful and there are no distractions.  Breathe in deeply and exhale... think carefully of who you will like to become and what will it take to bring this "Extravagant" person into existence.

The "New You" has always been there.  It's just been suppressed by your own inhibitions.  However, we must remove the fear we are oftentimes consumed with and allow our inner self to surface and shine.  Be patient. It is all in making adjustments, one step at a time.  This transition will not happen overnight.

Appearance.  Go out with some supportive family and friends to get a makeover.  Having loved ones around makes it all worthwhile.  However, some people can become resentful of your new transition in life.  If this is the case, remove them from your space and step out of your comfort zone. Be independent and take this journey on your own.  This is your time!  Go and get a new haircut; buy a new wardrobe with a splash of color; and remove all those dark clothing from your closet.  Buy those items you have been wanting for so long whether it's shoes, jewelry, or even those fly shades you see looking good on that mannequin.  I dare you to be daring!

Career.  If you have become bored with your job, explore the many possibilities ahead of you.  Make a career change and meet new people... face new challenges. Discover what will compliment the image you are striving to develop.  Just remember to keep an open mind.

Hobbies.  Find new activities that match your interests.  What will put a smile on your face?  Be daring, find that inner child and bring them to life.  You may enjoy skating or even arts & crafts.  Try journaling, reading, dancing, biking, painting, scrapbooking, hiking, cooking or photography.  Just do whatever makes you happy.

II.  Take a trip back down Memory Lane.

Memories or recollections are conscious representations of the past.  We oftentimes run from our past or suppress memories which contributed to us detouring from the person we dream to be.  Think about it... what are memories if we are not allowed to retain and revive facts, events and impressions of past experiences from our everyday lives?  We should not dwell on them; yet, we must appreciate what has been placed behind us so we can embrace what lies ahead of us.

III. Spirituality

Connecting with your spiritual side does not mean religiously.  Although, the meaning differentiates for everyone, do what opens that inner door for you.  Become conscious that there is something greater than the tangible world we see; as this enables you to discover the essence of your being.  Experiencing this fulfillment may be through private prayer, meditation, taking quiet walks, going to church, reading the Bible.  However you decide, allow it to be meaningful so your inner growth can manifest outwardly.

Reinventing yourself is just creating a clear vision for your future.  Explore the possibilities and know that it takes time to craft a phenomenal person.  No matter what happens during your journey, remain positive and keep pushing forward.  When you are faced with stumbling blocks such as self-doubt or alienation, realize that it is fear in disguise.  You are the empowered author of your book...control what is written.  Erase all fear and close your chapter with the person you envisioned being.
